Bharat Agarwal

Dr. Bharat Agarwal is a 6G Wireless Application Engineer at NI (Emerson, formerly Ettus Research) in Dresden, Germany. His work focuses on building and demonstrating advanced wireless testbeds with NI USRP platforms, OpenAirInterface (OAI), and srsRAN. He leads initiatives on spectrum sensing, neural receivers, power monitoring, and, bridging cutting-edge academic research with industry applications. Dr. Agarwal received his Ph.D. from Dublin City University (DCU), where he pioneered adaptive holographic streaming over wireless networks. He has authored multiple publications and patents in 5G/6G wireless communication and frequently contributes to application notes, Horizon Europe projects, and industry–academia collaborations.

Accelerating 6G Research with USRP-Based Testbeds and Open-Source Integration

The path to 6G requires flexible, AI-driven experimentation platforms that bridge simulation, prototyping, and real-world validation. This talk highlights NI’s portfolio of USRP-based solutions for advanced wireless research, covering spectrum sensing with AI accelerators, neural receiver architectures for energy-efficient uplink decoding, and integrated power monitoring for sustainable system design. We will also showcase complete end-to-end testbeds built with OpenAirInterface (OAI) and srsRAN, enabling researchers to rapidly prototype, evaluate, and refine new concepts in 6G. By combining hardware, software, and application notes, these offerings empower the research community to accelerate innovation in immersive communications, AI-native design, and standardization-aligned testbed development.
